Though there are many recipes for making pizzelles, this waffle-like cookie has fairly ancient origins and is served at most banquets and feasts throughout Italy. The name pizzelle comes from the Italian word "pizze" for round and flat. It has been called the oldest known cookie, and it's believed to have originated in the Abruzze area of Italy centuries ago. Some people say the pizzelle made its debut at the village of Colcullo, during the Festival of the Snakes, when villagers celebrated a divine intervention that helped them expel the serpents overrunning the town. Others say it started at the village of Salle, where pizzelles are still baked today to celebrate the feast of Beato Roberto, a twelfth-century monk. This VillaWare Prego Pizzelle electric Pizelle iron bakes batter quickly and easily so you can enjoy this delicious cookie fresh, every day. It helps make each day a feast. And each day should be a celebration. Add this to your kitchen today! Automatic thermostat Steam guard to protect hands from steam 110 Volt AC power cord Chrome finish with black handles
Love it! I have found the perfect pizzelle maker. I am a beginner at making pizzelles and after just a few attempts I was making them perfectly with this machine. Awesome buy! They don't stick to the baker and the traditional recipe that comes in the book works perfectly. I do recommend adding double the amount of vanilla if you choose not to add the anise.
The petite Belgian waffle maker turns out waffles just the right size for kids, but they'll taste so good, adults will want to share! It's quick, too, with three waffles ready in less than three minutes. Great for breakfast or as a sweet treat topped with whipped cream or ice-cream. The waffle maker features seven temperature settings, two browning levels and easy-to-clean nonstick grids. A chime signals when waffles are done.
Fantastic I've given this as a gift a few times and its always a hit. When it was given to us I was sceptical that it would get used but its incredibly easy and makes fantastic waffles. We use it with company or just for us on Sat mornings. We love it.
tropicalports: ReviewBuilt for power, speed, control, and ease, this 1000-watt appliance flattens and bakes 10-inch tortilla wraps, pitas, chapati, roti, and other flatbreads. Key to its performance are heavyweight die-cast aluminum top and bottom cooking plates that quickly and uniformly distribute heat so there are no hot spots to scorch breads. The plates are coated with nonstick material for easy release and simple wipe-clean convenience. An automatic temperature control takes the guesswork out of cooking, and a light signals when the flatbread maker has been heated to the proper temperature. A cord wrap reduces clutter, and the appliance can stand on end for storage. --Fred Brack
You get out of it what you put into it I hesitated to write a review as reading the other reviews pretty much sums it up. The unit is well made and reasonably priced. I have yet to make a bad tortilla. You simply need to follow the instructions. I am very happy with this purchase and continue to believe that Amazon is the best place to buy.

The nonstick griddles maximize cleaning convenience and a handy chime alerts users of cooking completion. The sleek chrome exterior seamlessly blends into the décor of any kitchen. Easily stored, this waffle maker measures 11-1/2 by 7-3/4 by 3 inches and weighs 9 pounds. --Jessica Reuling
waffle iron I bought this item to take to my workplace. I work in a memory unit and thought the residents would just LOVE it. I was right they do, we have our barnyard waffles at least two times a week! We have them with syrup and then sometimes we have them with ICECREAM which we highly suggest everyone do! I don't believe I've ever gotten so much pleasure out of any appliance.
tropicalports: ReviewPowered by a 1,200-watt heating element and solidly constructed of cast aluminum for evenly distributing and retaining heat, this waffle maker bakes four 4-1/4-inch waffles at once and readily releases them from grids coated with a rugged nonstick surface. A control on the front provides seven browning settings from light to dark. A red light shows when power is on, and a green light signals when the grids are properly heated to receive batter. A tone sounds when waffles are browned according to the selected setting. The waffler measures 10 inches wide, 3-1/2 inches high, and 13 inches deep (including the stay-cool handle). For compact storage, it stands upright and there's a cord-wrap with plug-holder underneath. The waffler carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack
Villaware Waffle Maker V2001C Most noteworthy feature of this quality heavy duty family waffle maker is its quick recovery - the 2nd, 3rd, 4th batches cook as quickly as the first. This is not typical of all competitors' waffle makers and buyers who intend to cook for a family should consider this when comparison shopping. I bought through Amazon because this model was recommended to me, and I could not find it in any local store. Too bad there was no choice of shipping options, I received it in 2 days but at a very high "shipping cost" - could have waited longer for a less expensive method.
tropicalports: ReviewThis commercial-style panini grill is the only one that makes restaurant-quality pressed sandwiches and also grills meats for healthy, low-fat dinners. The Uno paninigrill has a large 11-by-9-inch grilling surface that can press about four large panini sandwiches made on the traditional Italian foccacia or ciabatta bread, sear four boneless chicken breasts, or grill four servings of vegetables. The cooking surface heats up quickly and stays hot because of its cast aluminum construction and because the heating element is embedded directly beneath the grill top and bottom. For safety, a red light comes on when the appliance is plugged in and remains on for the duration of your cooking time. An adjustable control offers seven different cooking temperatures and a green light illuminates when the appliance has reached the desired heat.
The plastic handle stays cool during cooking and pushes straight down, as on a professional panini grill. The floating top adjusts to any thickness of sandwich so you can feel free to stuff your paninis full of meats, cheeses, and veggies. The ribbed grill plate imprints the typical marks onto meats or bread and, for healthier cooking, drains any fats from meats into the grooves and out of a side spout to a waiting grease tray. A high-quality nonstick coating on the cooking plates ensures that food lifts off easily and that the Uno panini grill is easy to clean.
While the high-polish aluminum exterior on this appliance is beautiful and durable, it also heats up to the same temperature as the grill’s interior. The plastic-coated handle offers some protection from the heat, but cooks still must exercise caution to prevent burns from the lid or sides of the handle. The Uno panini grill stands upright for storage but is still fairly large and heavy so cooks will want to ensure that they have adequate space for it.This product is covered by VillaWare under a full one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde
Quick Cooking Order this panini press and then find a good deli or specialty grocery and stock up on asiago, parmasean, fontina cheeses; mortadella, proscuitto, salami meats; some pesto, olive tapinade, a little fresh baby arugala and a loaf of sliced artisan bread and when the grill arrives you can have great food on the table in less than 15 minutes. We like to make three or four combinations and then cut them in half to share the multiple flavors. Finish with some Nutella spread on crust trimmed bread and you even have dessert.
tropicalports: ReviewThree sets of interchangeable grids allow this 3-in-1 appliance to make two waffles, pocket sandwiches, or thin, crisp Italian pizzelle cookies equally well. The grids snap in and out easily, are nonstick, and go safely into the dishwasher. The waffle grids bake 4-1/2-inch-square Belgian waffles with deep pockets. The sandwich grids accommodate sandwiches of various thicknesses thanks to the multibaker's floating hinge. The pizzelle grids bake 4-1/2-inch-diameter cookies embossed with intricate patterns on top and bottom. The multibaker's handles and housing, which combines matte silver and bright black plastic for a sleek, contemporary look, stay cool during operation. For storage, the multibaker stands on end and has a cord-wrap on the bottom. It measures 11 inches wide, 4 inches high, and 10 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. The instruction booklet includes 32 recipes for waffles, sandwiches, and variously flavored pizzelles. --Fred Brack
waffles take too long This doesn't get hot enough. Waffles take so long to cook (at least 10 minutes, maybe longer) that you sit around waiting and waiting and waiting for everyone's waffles to be done. I'd give it a one star but it does work.
tropicalports: ReviewQuicker and easier to use than a skillet, this 900-watt electric appliance simplifies the cooking of crepes and blintzes, making it foolproof. The 7-1/2-inch-diameter cooking surface is coated with nonstick material and is slightly convex. Dipping it into crepe batter coats it uniformly. Inverting the appliance and setting it on a counter (or dining table, for festive occasions) allows the crepe to cook, while the rubber feet protect the counter. The user then simply peels off the crepe. An automatic thermostat heats the cooking surface to the proper temperature, and a light signals when it's time to cook. The crepe maker, which features a stay-cool plastic handle, is accompanied by a plastic dishwasher-safe dipping plate to hold the batter. The crepe maker's instruction booklet contains recipes for various crepes and for blintzes. --Fred Brack
A A big hit! My daughter who would never eat anything is gorging herself on crepes every morning. I really like the dipping pan which is a fabulously molded form-fit. Someone's review had mentioned that the non-stick surface comes off - yes, unfortunately it does. It just rubbed off when I rubbed it with butter. I think that the trick here is to never let it go too long without a crepe cooking - I think that it overheats when left alone and I think that this is the cause of the surface rubbing off. It helps to put wax paper between stacked crepes or they'll stick. At the end of the batter when it is impossible to make a dipped crepe, I pour a little circle of batter around the edge of the maker and then pour more to fill it in - it makes a thicker pancake. A shaker for icing sugar is handy to dust the crepes. I altered the recipe for ease - 2-3 eggs, 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk, 1/8th+ teaspoon salt.
