a typical day in Aruba. and when i say "typical" i mean like everyday. since the island is way out of the Caribbean's hurricane belt, the weather is nice 365 days a year! Aruba was spared from the wrath of Hurricane Dean...at worst, it suffered from unusually stronger waves. |

The island wanted to showcase its many sides to both previous and potential visitors. The television spot is scored to an original up-tempo song called ?Rumba Aruba,? written by local Aruban musician and three-time Grammy Award nominee, Hildward Croes. |

The slow descent to the ocean floor reveals a changing kaleidoscope of colors and movement as tropical fish weave through their underwater environment. A huge school of anchovies swiftly changes direction in a slick, silvery line as a large barracuda makes its entrance, while yellow grunts and sturgeon fish swim unconcerned nearby. Closer near the seabed, thousands of tiny coral colonies wind and twist over every surface creating a textured array of impressively large examples of boulder coral, brain coral and pillar coral. The seeming tranquility of the environment is heightened by the waving sea fans and purple soft coral slowly undulating with the tide. A sudden movement catches the eye as a hawksbill turtle emerges from the sea grass and glides sedately out of view. The wonders of Aruba's underwater environment are accessible even to non-swimmers with Aruba's options of submarine, semi-submarine and sea trek adventures. The remains of shipwrecks, spectacular coral reefs and an abundance of colorful sea life comes into even sharper view with the aid of a fully narrated tour.

A little bonus from our trip to Aruba. One of my favortite things to do in Aruba is to sail on Mi Dushi , an 80 foot 1925 Swedish ketch with an 18 foot beam and 10 foot draft. For $35 you get a real sail in 20-25 knot wind, open bar and snorkel. I?ve been doing it for over 10 years and they have even let me helm her! I highly recommend it and Demanda loved it too! Two out-takes from the movie "ARUBA: Knock 'em Dead", written by Al Blanchard, shot on the island beaches of Aruba in 2003, novelist Al Blanchard makes a cameo as Sam the movie producer from California, Adam Steinfeld, magician in the gorilla cage, and magicians assistant/girl passing flyers, Evelien Jutte.
Al did a great realistic credible job acting, however, the scene didn't fit into the 7 minute short, hopefully in the near future a longer version of will be edited.
The short version of "ARUBA: Knock 'Em Dead" is now playing on Google Video.
All shot on the tropcial beach island of Aruba in 2003, two years before the world media decended on the island.
